FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q.        Is my data secure?

A.       Security of your data is our highest priority. As such we employ a number of methods to ensure the security and integrity of your personal information and the data you chose to store. The system operates on a secure web server communicating using at least 128 bit encryption (see SSL certificate). Your personal details are also stored in encrypted form and cannot be viewed or accessed via the internet. In addition personal data and recovery data are stored separately, linked only by a unique system assigned identifier. All access to the data is restricted and requires definitive proof of identity before any file can be opened and decrypted. This includes the ability of our staff to open customer files. In short there are a range of security measures in place including physical security and back up data.

Q.        Can I add data to the main storage?

A.        You may add data to the main storage at any time up to the capacity you have ordered at registration. You may also upgrade your storage capacity at any time.

Q.        Can I update the recovery data?

A.        Updates and additions, to your recovery data can be made at any time after you have completed registration. Simply log-on using the unique user name and password given to you at registration and enter the data.

Q.        How do I make a claim and gain access to my data?

A.        If you need to make a claim contact our help-line one of our operators will take you through the identification process to ensure you are the authorised account holder. Once this process has been completed the recovery data can be accessed via our operator. You will also be asked if you wish to have the main storage data sent immediately or will arrange this at a later date when convenient to you. The main storage data will be forwarded by either courier or registered delivery to the address that you require.

Q.        Are there restrictions on making a claim?

A.        The memory deposit is a service that is intended to be there when you need it but like any service must be protected from abuse (people using the system as a directory enquiry service) as such a restriction of two claims per annum without additional charge is the only restriction. Claims over and above this will be charged.

Q.        We are a couple are there special arrangements for our storage?

A.        There are options available to couples for a joint account.

Q.        I also want my memory deposit to form part of my legacy for my beneficiaries, is this possible?

A.        Absolutely possible and this was always intended as one of the functions of the Memory Deposit. Let your executors and/or legal representatives know of the existence of your deposit and even consider including it as part of your estate in your will.

Q.        I have registered and paid but have changed my mind can I get a refund?

A.        If you have not sent in any data or actually used the system you may cancel in the first 14 days after registration and receive a full refund.

Q.        What happens if I do not maintain payments of annual fees?

A.        We will make very effort to contact you to advise you of the non payment and will retain your data for a period of 3 months. At the end of the three month grace period if the account remains delinquent, the data will be destroyed in accordance with the requirements of the data protection act.

Q         Why does registration and set up fee increase with memory size?

A.         This is to reflect the initial costs of providing and preparing the capacity. The annual fees are only for maintenance and operation.

Q.        The site states I can upgrade my storage size, but what does it cost?

A.         It is the price difference (set up and registration fee) between your original storage size and the size you want to upgrade to. The annual fee increases from date of upgrade to annual fee for new memory size.

Q.        What do you do with my information?

A.         Your recovery information is automatically stored in a secure database, by you from the members area. Your storage data is virus checked before storage, it is not viewed in any way. The data is not used for any purpose other than to fulfil our obligations to you. It is stored only to be retrieved for you after proof of identity. How we treat your information is covered in detail in our Privacy Policy.
